Chips and cracks to your windshield tend to happen regularly during daily driving, especially when travelling at higher speeds on the highway. If you ignore the windshield cracks, changes in the temperature over time will make it worse. If the crack is so big that it impacts your visibility when driving, then it is a safety hazard.
