Frequently Asked Questions
Milstead Collision in Spring, TX works to make your experience as hassle-free as possible. Here are a few of the most common questions we receive..jpg)
Where Do I Get a Claim Number?
Your insurance carrier will issue a claim number when you report your accident. Write down the information and bring it with you when you come in to get started on your repairs. We’ll take care of the rest. It’s that easy!
Are You Open on Weekends?
We’re open on Saturdays from 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM. We are open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Should you need towing on the weekend, contact Milstead Wrecker at 281-367-3535.
Will Parts be Ordered Before I Drop Off My Car for Repairs?
Yes. When we write the initial estimate and schedule your vehicle drop off, we will order the necessary parts.
If My Vehicle’s Frame is Damaged, Is The Vehicle a Total Loss?
Not necessarily. A car is considered “totaled” only when the price of repairs exceeds the insurance company’s determined value of your vehicle. Milstead Collision’s certified technicians will return your vehicle’s frame or unibody to its original factory specifications using our state of the art measuring equipment..jpg)

Can You Match the Vehicle Paint Color?
We guarantee our color match. We use Waterborne refinish and an electronic camera to match the color on your vehicle. We custom mix the color for every job.
Bumpers are made out of a different material from your car and frequently the color of your bumper was slightly different when it left the factory due to the difference in material. We will experience the same small deviation in our process that the factory did when they painted your bumper originally.
How Long Will It Take to Complete My Vehicle’s Repairs?
Just as all collisions are different, all repair schedules are different too. Your Vehicle Repair Specialist can give you an estimated completion time. However, with the possibility of hidden damage, part delays, and coordination with the insurance company, it is not possible to guarantee a delivery date.
Can I Get a Ride to Work or Back Home When I Drop Off My Vehicle?
We provide local pickup and delivery service for our customers. We want each customer’s visit to be a positive experience and we work diligently to take the hassle out of collision repair.
How Can I Get a Rental Car?
We have rental cars on site. Just note that insurance companies only pay for a rental car if you have that option on your policy or if you are the claimant. You should first check your policy or call your insurance carrier to determine your rental coverage limitations..jpg)

How Will I Know When My Vehicle is Ready?
Your Vehicle Repair Specialist will contact you during the repair process and when your vehicle is ready. Should you have any questions at any time throughout the repair process, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Is There a Warranty on The Repairs to My Vehicle?
Milstead Collision offers a lifetime warranty on our body repair and paint repair as long as you own your vehicle. Your Vehicle Repair Specialist will cover the warranty with you during delivery.
Will I Have to Pay a Deductible?
If you are filing a claim with your own insurance company, then you have whatever deductible you selected when you purchased your policy. If someone else is responsible for the accident, then you are filing with their insurance company. As a claimant, you will not have a deductible. Contact your insurance carrier if you are unsure about the specifics.
To Whom Do I Pay The Deductible?
You will pay us for the amount of your deductible. Contact your insurance carrier if you are unsure about the specifics..jpg)

What Forms of Payment Do You Accept?
We accept cash, checks and major credit cards.
What Are “Betterment Charges”?
In collision repair, there are parts that wear out and need replacement (tires, batteries, and suspension parts) that must be replaced during the repair process. They are commonly subject to betterment charges. These betterment charges are determined by your insurance company and are pro-rated based on miles on your vehicle.
When Can I Wash or Detail My Car?
The First 30 Days
DO: Wash the vehicle by hand with cool, clean water and a very mild car wash solution using a soft cloth or sponge. Wash your vehicle in the shade.
DON'T: Don’t drive on gravel roads. Chipping the finish is easily done in the first 30 days. Don’t use a commercial car wash. Stiff brushes or sponges may damage the finish. Don’t “dry wipe” your vehicle. Dry wiping can scratch the finish. Avoid parking under trees and utility lines which are likely to attract birds. Bird droppings will damage a freshly painted surface because of its high acid content. Also, tree sap can mar or spot a freshly painted surface. Avoid spilling gasoline, oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, or windshield solvent on the new finish. Never scrape ice or snow from a newly painted surface.
